Routine Care
Imaging is selected by need and can show decay, bone, roots, infection, tooth position, or anatomy not visible directly.
A sensor or scanner captures selected views while protective technique and the lowest diagnostically useful exposure are used.
Radiation exposure is low but not zero; images may overlap, miss early disease, or require another view to answer the clinical question.
Visual examination, photographs, monitoring, or a different imaging type may sometimes answer part of the question, but each has limits.
Without needed imaging, hidden decay, bone loss, infection, root problems, or anatomy relevant to treatment may remain undetected.
What will this image show? How will it change the plan? Are prior images recent enough?
